Strengthening communities through equity-centered perspectives on education

Description

Join us at the fifth annual GGSE Research Symposium, where we delve into the transformative power of equity-centered perspectives on education to foster stronger and more inclusive communities. This groundbreaking event aims to ignite dialogue, inspire change, and champion the principles of equity that lie at the heart of creating thriving educational environments.

The vision of this event is to provide a space for student researchers to showcase their own work and to foster connection building within GGSE, as well as with the larger community. We invite any graduate or undergraduate student, postdoctoral scholar, staff member, faculty, or alumni from UCSB whose work is related to education to present their research, degree-related work, or community-work, at any stage of the process. Please consider using this as a chance, for example, to practice a presentation for a conference or to receive low-stakes feedback from peers and faculty. The conference program will be posted closer to the event date.

Keynote Speaker

Anne Charity-Hudley, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Educational Affairs and Professor at Stanford University.

People, Purpose and Passion: The Pathway to Equity, Community, and Accountability in Education

Description

Please join us for the GGSE 2023 Research Symposium! This year's theme "People, Purpose and Passion: The Pathway to Equity, Community, and Accountability in Education" invites participants to examine the challenges faced by educational institutions and explore strategies to create inclusive, nurturing, and accountable learning environments. We will critically engage with the educational landscape, examining how we can foster equitable access, build strong communities, and establish systems of accountability that promote positive educational outcomes for all learners.

The vision of this event is to provide a space for students and faculty to showcase their own work, receive formative feedback, and foster connection building within the GGSE, as well as with the larger UCSB community. We invite any student, postdoc, staff member, faculty, or Alumni from ED, CCSP, and TEP to present their research, degree-related work, or community-work at any stage of the process. This is also an opportunity to practice a presentation for AERA or other conferences and to receive low-stakes feedback from peers and faculty. All other UCSB students are also encouraged to participate.

Fostering Dynamic Communities for Equity, Accessibility, and Success in Education

Description

Please join us for the GGSE 2022 Research Symposium! This is our third annual symposium hosted by the Graduate Student Association in Education (GSAE). This year's conference theme, Fostering Dynamic Communities for Equity, Accessibility, and Success in Education, provides a space for scholars to discuss the ways in which we make education, as an insitute and practice, a place for all. We hope this space will exist for GGSE to support and challenge each other in finding best practice for our educational system and society. Furthermore, our theme asks us to consider how we support our larger education ecosystem.
